Lionardo Sesler
Lionardo Sesler , also Leonardo Sesler , († 1785 ) was an Italian doctor and botanist . Its official botanical author's abbreviation is “ Sesl. "
Live and act
Lionardo Sesler practiced as a doctor in Venice and owned his own plant garden in Padua . In the lettera intorno ad un nuovo genere di Piante terrestri , he was the first to describe and draw a specimen of the genus Vitaliana ( gold primrose , now part of the genus Mannsschild [ Androsace ]) from the primrose family (Primulaceae).
Honor taxon
Giovanni Antonio Scopoli named the genus Sesleria of the plant family of sweet grasses (Poaceae) in his honor .
