Lisa Rau (* 1987) is a German comic book artist and illustrator .

Rau lives near Bonn and works on the implementation of multimedia installations and exhibits for museums. In addition to this activity, she works on comics , illustrations and animated films . From 2006 to 2010 her contributions appeared in the anthologies Es Was keinmal (Der Froschkönig) , Paper Theater 7 and Subway to Sally Storybook 2 by the Schwarzer Turm publishing house . Afterwards she published an art book and the comic book Waldgeflüster in 2015 . The comic was published for the Leipzig Book Fair and has been reprinted several times. Stylistically, the comic is classified between western comics and manga, with only sketchy contours that are colored flat in watercolor . The story tells of a girl who is protected from a demon by a fox spirit in the forest. In 2016 he was awarded the ICOM Independent Comic Prize for outstanding artwork. The jury's justification states that Waldgeflüster is an “important bridge between western and eastern comic influences”, the artistic implementation of which contributes significantly to the “magical atmosphere” and the overall work.

In September 2016, she and the Schere, Leim, Papier team took first place at the 2880 Film Festival. The award-winning short film with the title 2 bottles of soda and a train ticket to Cologne is a paper film that consists of a continuous plan sequence.

After Waldgeflüster she was involved with other comic artists in the creation of the illustrated fairy tale book Fairy Tales of Travel .

In 2017 she published the picture book Hael and the Mirror Gates, created together with the author Daniela Goldschmidt . The fairy tale is about the fate of two worlds that are threatened with extinction since the balance between the two worlds was forgotten. It is up to the heroine Hael to save the worlds by creating connecting gates. This collaboration continued in the detective novel series The Cases of Bailey Whittemore by Daniela Goldschmidt, to which Lisa Rau contributed the cover design and interior illustrations. Volume 1: The mechanical rabbit (2018) and Volume 2: The black owl (2019) have been published.

In 2019 she participated in the founding and organization of the GINCO Award (German Inclusive / Independent Comic Award).
