Liselotte Vogel

Liselotte Vogel (* 1927 ; born Biersack , divorced Sonnenholzner ) is a German specialist in German . She became known as the wife of the SPD politician Hans-Jochen Vogel, who died in 2020 .

Life

Vogel comes from a family of doctors. On the advice of her grandfather, she deviated from her original wish to become a doctor herself. She did labor service during the Second World War . Then she studied German from 1946 to 1951 in Munich .

After her marriage to Fritz Sonnenholzner (1924–1982), later a member of the board of Munich Re , and the birth of her two daughters, she took care of their upbringing as a housewife. The marriage ended in divorce in the fall of 1972. She also volunteered for the Pfennigparade Foundation in Munich, initially in social counseling (1969–1973), then as a member of the Board of Trustees (1979–1996). Until 1992 she regularly reviewed children's books for the Süddeutsche Zeitung .

On December 23, 1972, she married the SPD politician Hans-Jochen Vogel (1926-2020) for the second time. During his tenure as Governing Mayor in 1981, she was the " First Lady " of Berlin . At the beginning of 2006 she moved with him from their shared Munich apartment to a residential building belonging to the Augustinum Group in Munich. The couple discussed this early decision to move of their own accord in interviews; Liselotte Vogel wrote a book about it.
