The honorary citizenship is the highest honor that the Lower Franconian town of Marktheidenfeld can forgive. It honors personalities who have rendered outstanding services to the city.

Since 1953, the following 13 people have been made honorary citizens.

    Brewery owner and councilor
    Awarded in 1953
    Mayr was a member of the municipal council for many years.
  2. Hedwig Mayr (1890–1960)
    Brewery owner
    Awarded in 1955
    She promoted social institutions and associations.
  3. Josef Ruf (1889–1960)
    Pastor
    Awarded in 1955
    Ruf worked as a pastor in Marktheidenfeld from 1933 to 1953.
  4. Alfred Ruppert (1881–1966)
    Manufacturer
    Awarded in 1955
    The manufacturer from Kulmbach appeared as a sponsor of social institutions in Marktheidenfeld.
  5. Margot Hock (1882–1973)
    Teacher
    Awarded in 1955
    Hock was a teacher from 1907 to 1957. She was the head of the girls' school and superior of the Poor School Sisters of Notre Dame
  6. Ulrich Willer (1899–1980)

    Willer was a member of the city council from 1948 to 1952 and was subsequently first mayor of the city of Marktheidenfeld from 1952 to 1972.

    He was the founder of the WAREMA company and from 1966 to 1993 chairman of the Marktheidenfeld gymnastics club. He promoted social institutions.

    Pilorge was mayor of the French twin town of Montfort-sur-Meu from 1971 to 2001
  12. Armin Grein (* 1939)
    District Administrator
    Awarded in 2008
    Grein was first mayor of Marktheidenfeld from 1972 to 1984 and from 1984 to 2008 district administrator of the Main-Spessart district. Since 1975 he has been the chairman of Lebenshilfe Marktheidenfeld.
  13. Leonhard Scherg (* 1944)

    Scherg was first mayor of Marktheidenfeld from 1984 to 2008 and district councilor from 1990 to 2008. Since 1986 he has been chairman of the supervisory board of the Heimstättenwerk.
