Hans-Wilhelm Renkhoff

Hans-Wilhelm Renkhoff (born January 19, 1927 in Düsseldorf ; † March 9, 2011 in Marktheidenfeld ) was a German entrepreneur. Together with Karl-Friedrich Wagner, he founded the Warema company. In addition, he was also very committed to society, e. B. in the rationalization board of the German economy, at the Sparkasse Main-Spessart, in the Marketing-Club Mainfranken, for the Universitätsbund Würzburg and for the Fachhochschule Würzburg-Schweinfurt .

Career

Hans-Wilhelm Renkhoff initially trained as a technical draftsman. This was followed by the war effort, wounding and hospital stay, imprisonment and clean-up services. In 1945 he was released and began an apprenticeship as a bricklayer. At the age of 28, he gave up his job as managing director in a West German industrial drive technology company and decided in 1955 to switch to self-employment.

Together with Karl-Friedrich Wagner, he founded the roller shutter manufacturer Warema in a former horse stable in Marktheidenfeld . After the accidental death of his business partner in 1958, he continued to run the company as sole managing director and developed it into the European market leader for technical sun protection. At the end of 1998 he retired from operational business and was chairman of the company's supervisory board until 2007.

In December 1993 he set up a foundation named after him for the benefit of the Würzburg-Schweinfurt University of Applied Sciences , which promotes science, research and development as well as the practical and SME-related training of engineers and business administrators.

He was heavily involved in local associations and institutions such as Lebenshilfe, TV Marktheidenfeld, the Bavarian Red Cross and the Hunters Association. He had also always been an advisor to the mayor. Renkhoff was also involved in various IHK committees .
