List of honorary citizens of Trostberg
The honorary citizenship is the highest municipal award of the Upper Bavarian city of Trostberg . According to the rules of honor of the city of Trostberg , it can be awarded to personalities who have made lasting outstanding services to the reputation and general welfare of the city. The award is made by resolution of the city council with a two-thirds majority.
Each honorary citizen receives an artistically designed award certificate at a solemn city council meeting, which provides information about his merits. It is signed and sealed by the 1st mayor or his representative. According to Art. 16 of the Bavarian Municipal Code, the appointment can be revoked due to unworthy behavior. Such a resolution requires a two-thirds majority of the voting members of the city council.
At least 16 people have received this honor since 1882.
On the occasion of the "National Survey" in Germany, honorary citizenships were awarded to Paul von Hindenburg, Adolf Hitler and Franz Ritter von Epp at an extraordinary meeting of the city council on March 31, 1933. These three honors no longer appear in any honorary citizenship list. There is evidence that Adolf Hitler's honorary citizenship was never officially carried out, and neither was the award to the other two people. At the city council meeting of March 27, 1946, resolution No. 150, the appointment of honorary citizens was revoked for all three people. Note: The listing is done chronologically according to the date of award. It is probably no longer complete after 1963.
