List of Galileo satellites

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The list of Galileo satellites represents the current constellation of the satellites of the European satellite navigation system Galileo .

The table also includes all other launched Galileo satellites. The two GIOVE satellites are out of service. GSAT0201 and GSAT0202 cannot be used for the constellation due to their unplanned orbit, but are available for other purposes (tests).

With the four satellites launched in 2018, the target constellation is expected to be complete in January 2019. The satellites in two slots (B03, C05) are currently not available. The reserve satellites are not yet in orbit. Four FOC satellites have already been ordered. The next satellite launches are to take place with Ariane 6 2. The first start with GSAT0223, GSAT0224 is planned for 2020. GSAT0225 and GSAT0226 are to follow in 2021.

Name: The winners of an EU painting competition 2011 are the namesake, the flag denotes their EU home country.
SLOT: The letter identifies the orbit plane, the number numbers the satellites in this orbit plane. The satellites follow one another in this order and are 45 ° apart from one another.
PRN: Number that identifies the signal coding (not the satellite) and is displayed on GNSS receivers. If a satellite fails, a replacement satellite can take its place and in turn transmit the signal with the PRN code. In the data of the Galileo Service Center this value is referred to as SV ID.
COSPAR: The " COSPAR designation " is a designation given by the Committee on Space Research for a spacecraft (satellite, rocket fragment, etc.).
FOC: Full Operational Capability (technical implementation)
FM: Flight Model (copy suitable for actual use)
IOV: In Orbit Validation (technical implementation)
