List of governors of Andhra Pradesh
The following table lists the governors of Andhra Pradesh with their respective terms of office. The state was formed under the name Andhra on October 1, 1953 from the Telugu-speaking districts of the state of Madras , making it the first Indian state to be newly created according to language borders. On November 1, 1956, the state was enlarged by the States Reorganization Act to include more Telugu-speaking areas from the dissolved state of Hyderabad and received the current name Andhra Pradesh .
