List of Governors of Manipur
The following table lists the governors of Manipur with their respective terms of office. Manipur was in 1949 part of the Indian Union and from 1 November 1956 as a union territory, first under the leadership of Chief Commissioners and in 1969 one on October 15, Vice Governor managed (lieutenant governor). With the reorganization of northeast India after the Bangladesh War , Manipur became a federal state, as did Meghalaya and Tripura on January 21, 1972. The governor of Assam was then also responsible for these three states until 1981 , after which there was a joint governor for Manipur and Tripura until 1989.
