List of Governors of Assam
The following table lists the governors of Assam since India's independence with their respective terms of office. A governorship in Assam was created in 1921 under British colonial administration. The areas of Nagaland , Mizoram , Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya were carved out of Assam in the 1960s and 1970s, placed under self-government and later given state status.
