Railway viaduct | (Map) | 1843-1845 | is one of the first larger railway viaducts in Saxony, brick pillars as relics of an early railway bridge with originally wooden superstructures of architectural and railway historical importance, also shaping the landscape.
Viaduct built 1843–1845 as part of the construction of the line between Leipzig (starting point at the Bayerischer Bahnhof) and Hof via Altenburg, Werdau, Reichenbach / Vogtland and Plauen (the line was gradually put into operation between 1842 and 1851), an important main line in Saxony, Thuringia and Bavaria (route abbreviation LH), originally built and operated by the Saxon-Bavarian Railway Company, from 1847 property of the Kingdom of Saxony, continued operation as the Saxon-Bavarian State Railway, from Werdau the route through various river valleys required the construction of several large bridges, including the viaduct near Langenhessen Over the Koberbachtal or Pfarrgrund (hence also called Viadukt Koberbachtal or Pfarrgrund Viaduct): double-track girder bridge, length 113.5 m, height 18.7 m, original construction: wooden truss between stone pillars, replaced by iron trusses in 1865 and in 1976 through concrete beams, Current condition: Concrete girders over twelve bridge openings rest on eleven stone pillars and two brick abutments, stone pillars made of natural stone masonry with corner blocks, rectangular floor plan, tapering towards the top, structured by two masonry recesses, each with a round-arched opening, here using bricks as arch stones, solid substructures are among the oldest relics of early railway bridges with formerly wooden superstructures, even if these and the later iron superstructures are no longer preserved and have been replaced by a concrete structure, the combination of brick pillars with girder bridge girders of different materials is still legible. |

Side building of a four-sided courtyard | Crimmitschauer Strasse 94 (map) |
re. 1724 | rare, very old farm building with a preserved block stable and portico.
Two-storey side building of a four-sided courtyard with a nine-bay upper arbor and a preserved block stable on the ground floor, built in 1724 according to the inscription on the door frame. The ground floor was completely preserved in wooden block construction with a surrounding structure on three sides of the building. This is the only example of this type of side building in the county. What has been said also applies to the West Saxon region, where only individual examples of this originally widespread construction method have survived. The name "HP 1724" can be found on the wooden door frame of the stable. The block walls on the ground floor have probably always been unplastered, the balance between the block section and the half-timbered upper floor is made up of clay and stones. Only the basement access on the ground floor is massive (possibly a subsequent construction measure). The nine-bay upper arbor on the upper floor was originally preserved. Its parapet was probably originally boarded up. All timber connections of the framework are tenon, this also applies to the lugs and struts. The house closes with a gable roof. The wooden connections of the collar beam roof with a single standing chair are also tapped. The monumental value of this rural farm building results from its great historical significance due to the singularity of the block stall and the rarity of Oberlauben. (LfD / 2012.) Nine-bay upper arbor, parapet presumably originally boarded up, ground floor in wooden block construction completely preserved with surrounding construction on three sides of the building, the only example of this type in the district, probably very rare even in western Saxon areas, monument value therefore results from the singularity of this type of building and the rarity of preserved ones Oberlauben, marked HP 1724 on the door frame, all wooden connections tapped, cleats and struts, house empty, basement entrance massive, house endangered as the owner has no interest in maintaining it, roof structure: rafters tapped in roof beams, simple standing chair, gable originally made of clay framework, block walls on the ground floor originally unplastered as it is today, balance between the block part and the half-timbered upper floor with clay and stones. |
