List of LBE locomotives and railcars

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This list contains the locomotives and railcars of the Lübeck-Büchener Railway .

Designation and numbering of the locomotives

The LBE locomotives were initially given names and numbers in the order in which they were put into service. In a few cases, the numbers of retired vehicles have been reused. A special feature of the LBE was that only locomotives with a tender were given an operating number, but tank locomotives were only identified by their name.

With the renumbering of the vehicle fleet in 1917, the express and passenger locomotives were assigned to the number range from 1 to 60, the freight locomotives between 61 and 100. For the first time, tank locomotives were given numbers starting with 101. The names were omitted from now on.

From 1903 the LBE grouped its locomotives into classes. It was largely based on the corresponding Prussian generic names. Individual locomotive types were classified differently from the Prussian state railways; so were z. B. LBE's normal freight locomotives were classified as G 2 or G 3, while in Prussia they ran under the designation G 3 or G 4 1 . In 1924, generic designations were introduced for newly built locomotives that corresponded to those of the Deutsche Reichsbahn. However, old building types kept the traditional generic symbols.

The for the LBE no. 152 planned locomotive as No. 8 of the Kleinbahn Lüneburg – Soltau

The meter-gauge Nordhausen-Wernigeroder Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft acquired two 1'D 1'h2t tank locomotives from Henschel in 1915 and assigned them the operating numbers 41 and 42. No. 41 was taken over by the Heeresfeldbahnen in 1916 as HK101 . 1917 acquired the Lübeck-Büchen Railway Company, both no. 41 of the Army railways and no. 42 of the Nordhausen-Wernigerode Railway, leaving both locomotives in their own home workshop on standard gauge umspuren. Road numbers 151 (for No. 41) and 152 (for No. 42) were planned for the machines. However, they never got into the factory. LBE sold No. 151 to the Lauchhammer ironworks and No. 152 to the Berlin company Erich at the end, which it resold in 1919 to the Kleinbahn Lüneburg – Soltau , where it was numbered 8 and from 1944 as 92 141 for the Osthannoverschen Eisenbahnen ran. It was retired in 1961.
