  • David (1010-1018) - Patriarch of Bulgaria and Archbishop of Ohrid
  • In 1018 the patriarchate was dissolved because Bulgaria came under Byzantine rule. An autocephalous archbishop who was installed by Byzantium continued to reside in Ohrid .

Exarchs of Bulgaria

Chairman of the Holy Synod

from 1915 to 1945 because of internal disagreements, the Holy Synod could not elect an exarch. During this time one of the presidents of the Holy Synod was in charge of the affairs of the Church.
