Pimen from Newrokop
Pimen ( Bulgarian Пимен Неврокопски / Pimen Newrokopski, secular name Dejan Nedeltschew Entschew (also Deyan Nedelchev Enchev written Bulgarian Деян Неделчев Енчев ); * 22. June 1906 in Chirpan , Principality of Bulgaria ; † 10. April 1999 in Sofia , Bulgaria ) was a Bulgarian Orthodox clergyman. He was Metropolitan of the Newrokop Diocese of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church from 1952 to 1996 and Patriarch of the Alternative Synod from 1996 to 1999.
In 1992, Metropolitan Pimen formed a “counter- synod ” as a reform wing to the existing one . He was joined by: Pankratij from Stara Sagora , Kalinik from Wratsa and Stefan from Veliko-Tarnovo .
