List of neighborhoods in Kōtō District of Tokyo
This list of the districts of the Tokyo district Kōtō enumerates all districts in the area of the district Kōtō ( Kōtō-ku , English Koto City ) of the Tokyo prefecture ( Tōkyō-to , English Tokyo Metropolis ) in the southeast of Tokyo . Only the clearly delimited areas are listed, as they are also used for postal addresses in Japan , but not colloquial district names.
Many districts consist of several numbered quarters ( 丁目 , chōme ). The numbers of the chôme are listed after the name, if applicable.
In some Tokyo districts, several districts are being merged into one larger area. In Kōtō two areas can be distinguished for historical reasons: The two areas Fukagawa and Jōtō correspond to the two districts of the same name (ku) Fukagawa and Jōtō of the former city of Tokyo ( Tōkyō-shi , English Tokyo City ) that existed until 1947 , through their amalgamation of Kōtō district was established.
