In total, three water protection areas in the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen are designated by water protection area ordinances, divided into three protection zones, each with different protection provisions.

- ↑ The transnational water protection area Langen / Leherheide is located in the city of Bremerhaven in the districts of Lehe and Weddewarden and in the district of Cuxhaven in Lower Saxony in the districts of Langen, Imsum, Sievern, Holßel, Hymendorf, Debstedt, Wremen, Drangstedt, Wehden and Spaden and has an area of 49.13 km².
- ↑ The transnational water protection area Blumenthal is located in the municipality of Bremen in the Blumenthal district and in the Osterholz district in Lower Saxony in the Beckedorf district. In the Bremen area the protected area has an area of around 12.2 km², in Lower Saxony it has an area of around 19 km², making a total of around 31.2 km².
