Diplomatic relations between Estonia and Ireland were established in 1991. The first Estonian ambassador was accredited in 1994. However, since the Estonian ambassador was also ambassador to the United Kingdom before 2003 and therefore resided in London , he was represented in Dublin by a chargé d'affaires (ad interim) .
