List of Gambian orders and decorations

In the former British colony of Gambia , the orders and decorations of the United Kingdom were awarded until 1970 . With the constitutional amendment of 1970 the Gambia became a republic and Queen Elizabeth II was no longer the head of state of the Gambia. Two years later, starting in 1972, a separate knightly order was awarded, the Order of the Republic of The Gambia .
