Gerd Schröder

Gerd Schröder (born February 20, 1959 in Würzburg ; † August 27, 2008 in Bad Neustadt ) was a German entrepreneur and ice hockey functionary.

Schröder was a co-founder of the Frankfurt Lions ice hockey club in Frankfurt am Main , one of the founding members of the German Ice Hockey League (DEL) . Since 1997 he has been the main owner of Frankfurt Lions Ice Hockey GmbH, which he symbolically bought with one mark. In 1998 he took over the chairmanship of the supervisory board of the German Ice Hockey League, which he held until his death. Schröder enjoyed great sympathy not only among the supporters of the Frankfurt Lions, but throughout ice hockey Germany.

He died from the effects of pneumonia as a result of suffered in May 2008 brain shock .
