List of Singaporean billionaires
The list of Singaporean billionaires is based on the annual wealth and property appraisal published by Forbes business magazine in 2017 .
The list, published under the title The World's Billionaires , is a compilation published annually by the US business magazine Forbes , which lists all people worldwide whose estimated personal wealth exceeds one billion US dollars ('Billion' in English means 'billion' in German) . Dictators and members of royalty are not included in this list.
On October 5, 1987, Forbes magazine first published a list of 140 billionaires. Exactly two weeks later, on Black Monday , the Dow Jones index plunged 22% in one day, causing shifts in wealth. In 2017, 2,043 billionaires were already on the list. The high point so far has been reached. The global distribution as well as the number of billionaires has increased over the years.
