List of Ugandan ambassadors in Russia
history
The governments of the Soviet Union and Uganda established diplomatic relations on October 13, 1962. The government of Alexei Nikolayevich Kosygin has expressed interest in the Idi Amin 's government to recognize the government of Agostinho Neto of the Movimento Popular de Libertação de Angola , which declared its independence from Portugal on November 11, 1975. Idi Amin, however, sympathized more with the Frente Nacional de Libertação de Angola . In a letter on November 9, 1975, he asked Leonid Ilyich Brezhnev to have a senior official explain the Soviet behavior personally within 48 hours, otherwise he would break off relations with the Soviet Union. Idi Amin had the Soviet ambassador expelled, and on November 11, 1975, the government of Alexei Nikolayevich Kosygin expelled the Ugandan ambassador from Moscow. On November 15, 1975, Idi Amin offered to resume relations, which happened to the Agrément to new ambassadors on November 17, 1975.
