literature.de is an Internet portal that specializes in information from and about the literature business . According to the operator, with over 500,000 visitors per month, it is one of the literature platforms with the widest reach on the German-speaking Internet. The core of the pages is a database with more than 10,000 reviews . In addition one finds u. a. Author portraits, news from the world of books and media, a literature forum, writing competitions or a PR service for authors .

history

Sven Trautwein is the founder of and head behind literature.de. He began in 1998, while still a student, initially with a pure text forum in which he published the short stories of young authors on the Internet and later also in the now six-volume book series Netzgeschichten . In the meantime, Trautwein operates the portal full-time with three permanent and around 30 freelance editors.

The focus of literature.de is on the review database. This collection grows by around a hundred reviews per month, covering areas such as crime fiction , novels , non-fiction and children's books . Audiobooks or films based on a literary work are also discussed. Books that a reviewer considers to be particularly recommendable are given the rating of “Reading Tip”, and a very outstanding work is named “Book of the Month”. Particularly bad works are given the stamp of "Verriss des Jahres". The meetings are often supplemented with reading or listening samples.
