Literary dictionary
A literary lexicon can contain author biographies, contents of individual works, literary genre and epoch descriptions and definitions of subject terms. Some lexicons are limited to one language area (with regard to the original editions, translations are then not mentioned). Lexicons containing work descriptions are usually very extensive and tend to quickly become out of date.
In the German-speaking area there are, among others, the following literary dictionaries:
- Kindler's literary dictionary or Kindler's new literary dictionary
- Wilpert's Lexicon of World Literature
- Killy Literature Lexicon
- Metzler Lexicon Literature (Subject: Literary Studies)
- Lexicon of children's and youth literature founded by Klaus Doderer
- The novelist or Reclam's novelist by Johannes Beer
