from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Wilhelm and Christine Hirschmann Foundation Literature Prize was a German literary prize donated by the Treuchtlinger Wilhelm and Christine Hirschmann Foundation in 2009. With him she honored the life's work of a German-speaking author until 2014 according to the foundation rules. The endowment was 20,000 euros.

The members of the foundation administration decided in 2015 not to award any more literary prizes. Funding according to the purpose of the foundation takes place in another form.

background

The foundation founded in 2009 by the Middle Franconian entrepreneur couple Wilhelm and Christine Hirschmann was dedicated to promoting art, monument preservation, literature and education, primarily in the Middle Franconian area. This included supporting the PEN Center Germany (until 2015) and awarding prizes for young artists from the field of visual arts .

The lifetime achievement awards for literature were not limited to writers from the region: In his laudation for Ludwig Fels, Alfred Meyerhuber states that Fels is not recognized because he is a Treuchtlinger, but because he has a rare power of speech and then again with gentle poetry put into words the dark side of society and human existence.
