Lito Valle

Lito Valle (aka Carlos Alberto Sahagún , * 1942 ) is an Argentine pianist, composer, conductor and music teacher.

Life

Lito Valle studied composition with Jacobo Ficher and conducting with Guillermo Scarabino and trained as a répétiteur at the Instituto Superior de Arte of the Teatro Colón . As a conductor, he directed the performance of operas, musical revues and zarzuelas. In 1980 he conducted the performance of the Argentine version of the West Side Story . For fourteen years he directed the La Zarzuela and Comedias Musicales y Operetas series for Radio Nacional , and also directed several musical television programs.

As a pianist or conductor he worked with musicians as diverse as Lalo Schifrin , Libertad Lamarque , Estela Raval , Rocío Jurado , Isabel Pantoja and Mariano Mores and conducted a. a. the Orquesta Nacional de Música Argentina Juan de Dios Filiberto , the Orquesta del Tango de Buenos Aires , the Japanese Gunma Symphony Orchestra and the Orquesta Sinfónica de la Universidad de Cuyo . In 1999 he conducted the world premiere of his composition BACH Ostinato with the Banda Sinfónica de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires .

In 2002 the University of Colorado performed a series of tango arrangements that Lito Valle had written with clarinetist Paquito D'Rivera and bassoonist Andrea Merenzon . In 2003 he arranged tangos by Astor Piazzolla and José Ferrer for a CD with singer Guillermo Fernández . He also oversaw an edition of an Antología de Arreglos Orquestales de Tango with the Orquestra Filiberto , which u. a. contains own arrangements of tangos Atilio Stampones , Nestor Marconis and Osvaldo Requenas .

Lito Valle is one of the founders of the Escuela de Música Popular de Avellaneda , where he teaches jazz piano and jazz ensemble management, arrangement and orchestration. Since 1975 he has also been giving private lessons. He received awards a. a. for the compositions Per Orchestra (1980), Música de Entretenimiento II for saxophone quartet and Ragtime for piano four hands.
