Jacobo Ficher

Jacobo Ficher ( Russian Яков (Хакобо) Фишер ; born January 15, 1896 in Odessa , † September 9, 1978 in Buenos Aires ) was an Argentine composer , violinist and conductor of Russian origin.

Live and act

Ficher was a violin student of Pyotr Stoljarski and from 1912 studied violin at the St. Petersburg Conservatory with Sergei Korgujew and Leopold Auer , as well as music theory, instrumentation and composition with Wassili Kalafati , Maximilian Steinberg , Nikolai Tscherepnin and Nikolai Sokolow .

In 1923 he moved to Buenos Aires, where he worked as a composer and orchestra director. In 1939 he became director of the symphony orchestra of the Asociación General de Músicos de la Argentina , in 1947 he was one of the founders of the Argentine Composers Association. In 1969 he became a member of the Academia Nacional de Bellas Artes .
