Pyotr Solomonovich Stoliarsky ( Russian Пётр Соломонович Столярский , scientific. Transliteration Pëtr Solomonovič Stoljarskij ; November * 18 . Jul / the 30th November  1871 greg. In Lipowzy , Podolia Governorate , today Ukraine ; † 29 April 1944 in Sverdlovsk ) was a Soviet violinist and music teacher .

Life

Stoljarski studied with Stanisław Barcewicz in Warsaw and Emil Młynarski in Odessa . In 1893 Stolyarsky graduated from the violin class at the Odessa Music School. From 1893 to 1919 he was a violinist in the orchestra of the Odessa Opera . From 1898 he worked as a music teacher. In 1912 he opened his own music school. From 1919 he taught at the Odessa Conservatory (from 1923 as a professor). He was one of the founders of the Soviet violin school. The method of professional music education in early childhood is closely linked to his name. On his initiative, the State Music School for gifted children was opened in 1933, which today bears his name. In the 1930s, his students won numerous international awards. His students included the later world-famous violinists David Oistrach and Nathan Milstein as well as Boris and Michael Goldstein , Michail Fichtenholz and Jelisaweta Gilels .

Stolyarsky had been a member of the CPSU since 1939 .

Honors

In 1939 he was awarded the title of People's Artist of the Ukrainian SSR . He was also awarded the Order of the Red Labor Banner .
