history
Founding of the magazine "Culture for Everyone"
When the magazine “Kultur in Hamburg”, founded in 1970 under the introductory title “Culture for Everyone”, came onto the market for the first time, today's cultural authority of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg was still a department in another authority, so it was not independent. Employees in the department considered promoting Hamburg's cultural scene and the art that is being created here and launching a program that showed interested Hamburg residents and visitors to the city the way through culture in and around Hamburg. The magazine was first put together by a working group and published by the authorities, until it was published under the same title in 1980 by "Hans Christians Verlag" in Hamburg, which was founded as "Hans Christians Druckerei und Verlag" in 1740 by Conrad Wörmer, until 1988 relocated. Until then, it was a ten times a year (joint task for June, July and August) published periodicals , which was initially distributed free of charge and had a length of up to 32 pages. Foundation of the association "Kultur aktuell" - association for the promotion of cultural life in Hamburg eV
In parallel to the culture magazine “Kultur für alle”, which was initially financed by the local authority, “Kultur aktuell - Association for the Promotion of Cultural Life in Hamburg eV” was created, whose service participants also became subscribers to the magazine. The first membership card was for Mrs. Daniela Westphal-Reichow, wife of the lawyer and Minister of Economics of Schleswig-Holstein a. D., Jürgen Westphal , issued with the number 1/270028. Westphal-Reichow was a founding member of the association. Foundation of the "Nord-Magazin" Verlagsgesellschaft mbH
In August 1988 the "Nord-Magazin für Kultur, Politik und Wirtschaft" appeared under the ISSN 0936-5427, for the first time as a joint issue for August / September and then in a row until August / September 1992 six times a year. The publication goes back to the founding of the project by the then cultural deputy at the Hamburg cultural authority Hedda Guhr and the author François Maher Presley. The DIN A4 portrait format large appeared initially with 52 pages, a color cover and inside black and evolved to its setting in the August / September 1992 to one side of 74 pages and a four-color printing. From August 1988 to June 1989, the writer Hans Eppendorfer - from February 1989 as editor-in-chief - worked on the magazine. Foundation of the "Kultur in Hamburg" Verlagsgesellschaft mbH
The "Kultur in Hamburg Verlagsgesellschaft mbH" was founded on November 17, 1992 in Hamburg by the owner Stephan Reisberg and served as the successor company to the "Nord-Magazin Verlagsgesellschaft mbH", whose business activities were transferred to the "Kultur in Hamburg Verlagsgesellschaft mbH". The object of the company was with the production and trading of media products and a. specified. The business activities taken over also included the magazines “Kultur in Hamburg” and the “Nord-Magazin für Kultur, Politik und Wirtschaft”. Since 1996, the company has expanded its business operations to include the trade in art and gallery supplies and subsequently carried out exhibitions at various locations in Hamburg, including the Torhaus Wellingsbüttel, and later in the Forum Alstertal, a culture and living project in Hamburg-Poppenbüttel that under the aegis of the company and François Maher Presley helped develop and was built and operated over six years until the end of 2005.
Change to in-Cultura.com GmbH
On October 22nd, 2004, the name of the company was changed to “in-Cultura.com GmbH” in order to take account of the spreading Internet.
Although books and catalogs have been produced occasionally since the company was founded, this publishing sector has been developing rapidly since 2005. By 2016, the “Kultur in Hamburg Verlagsgesellschaft mbH” or “in-Cultura.com GmbH” had over 100 publications, including around 60 books on various subject areas or art portfolios.
In 2010 the company got into an economic vortex, as a result of which the successful magazine “Kultur in Hamburg” was discontinued, which turned out to be a wrong decision economically. In-Cultura.com GmbH only slowly recovered from the turbulence, limited itself to book publishing and the production of all kinds of printed matter, which put the company on an economically secure footing. On October 14, 2015, Jörg Wolfgang Krönert took over all company shares and has been managing the company since then as managing director and publisher .

Culture in Hamburg
While in the first 22 years of the magazine's existence almost exclusively event announcements were published, since the takeover by the "Nord-Magazin Verlagsgesellschaft mbH" it has developed more and more into a culture magazine with a strong editorial character in the field of art and culture . In addition, the volume increased from 32 to up to 90 pages and was printed in four colors throughout. Due to the close ties with "Kultur aktuell - Association for the Promotion of Cultural Life in Hamburg eV", which concluded a subscription for all of its service participants, an ever-increasing number of paying readers formed, so that the magazine no longer, as it was before it was taken over, was distributed free of charge or lived on government grants but was funded through free sales, mainly subscriptions and advertising. At times it had a widespread circulation of almost 10,000 copies according to the publisher.
The format of the booklet was set at DIN A5, followed by full four-color printing and, in parallel, the content, which until then consisted of advance announcements and advertising, was expanded to include cultural editorial articles, as well as travel reports. The magazine was published by François Maher Presley until it was discontinued in 2010 (40th year).
The magazine, which is very widespread in the Hamburg area in the field of art and culture , expanded its editorial contributions over the course of the following 18 years to include interviews, political, socio-political and international topics and received from 1992 onwards, with the transfer to the newly founded "Kultur in Hamburg Verlagsgesellschaft mbH “The ISSN 0944-6168. On this occasion, the content was coordinated with the “Nord-Magazin für Kultur, Politik und Wirtschaft” in such a way that the latter magazine could be discontinued due to its inefficiency.
Parallel to the editorial reporting and the publication of advance announcements, after the merger (economy) the fields of activity of "Kultur aktuell - Association for the promotion of cultural life in Hamburg eV" and the "Kultur in Hamburg Verlagsgesellschaft mbH", in addition to the subscriber base also the Brokerage of theater and concert tickets, which until then had been carried out by the association, was part of the company's offer, "Kultur aktuell" did a small editorial part of the magazine independently anyway. Nord magazine for culture, politics and business
The glossy magazine, which appears every two months with the ISSN 0936-5427, dealt editorially with all sophisticated art genres, provided information on innovations on the art market, published reviews, dealt with cultural policy as well as economic issues. It received particularly high attention because of its very unconventionally clearly written criticism of the cultural policy prevailing at the time, which often went to the limit of the protection of the personal rights of the persons depicted in some cases. The politically extremely left-wing editorials by Michael Haller regularly led to protests among the readership; the magazine turned to conservative social groups, economically successful readers and those who belong to the educated middle class. Hamburg youth magazine
At the beginning of 1990, François Maher Presley brought the "Hamburger Jugendmagazin" into being. It was published four times a year by its editor-in-chief Thomas Röbke and was distributed free of charge to various Hamburg schools. It was a modern, DIN A4 format booklet with 38 pages that was particularly dedicated to young people. This magazine, originally implemented as a temporary school project, was used by young people to train under the supervision of editors and journalists from the “Nord-Magazin Verlagsgesellschaft mbH” and to see whether they could imagine a future as authors or journalists.
