From 1966 to 1970 the artist lived in Chile , where he took over the management of the Instituto Alemán Carlos Anwandter in Valdivia . In Santiago de Chile he met Salvador Allende and Pablo Neruda , and painted and drew portraits of both. He received commissions from churches in Valdivia and Osorno and from the Universidad Austral de Chile (Valdivia). He showed his works in exhibitions in Osorno, Valdivia and in Santiago de Chile in the Galeria El Patio.

After his return from Chile, he headed the Hansa-Kolleg Hamburg from 1971 to 1978 , and then the German School in Barcelona until 1984 .

  6. “As little as he programmatically adheres to an art movement, Quirin wants to teach or turn his innermost inside out. His pictures document an intensive examination of the formative art movements of the 20th century and at the same time a strong artistic personality who has developed a great imaginative power in the creation of forms and a wealth of detail and nuanced differentiation in the composition. Spontaneity and formal work complement each other productively and charge the picture with life and structure. In his most recent pictures, the 81-year-old uses his creative reservoir with virtuoso freedom. In a time in which a supposed polarity and objectivity are no longer an issue, the view becomes free for the fine work, for the momentary, for the layers in which corporeality and sound, figure and free lines correspond with each other. Here worlds of sensation and objective reality flow into one another. ”( Dr. Rainer Beßling : Catalog for the exhibition“ Art of Collecting ”from April 13 to May 3, 2008 in the Galerie Künstlerhaus Spiekeroog)
