Christa Randzio-Plath

Christa Randzio-Plath (born October 29, 1940 in Ratibor ) is a German politician ( SPD ).

education

Randzio-Plath graduated from high school in 1961, studied law and sociology and passed the first and second state law exams as well as diplomas in comparative law, development policy and French.

Career

After training as an editor, she worked in this profession from 1970 to 1972, where she was responsible for foreign news. She then worked as a lawyer for two years. From 1974 to 1976 and from 1978 to 1989 she was a tax lawyer at the Oberfinanzdirektion Hamburg , and in between she was Deputy Head of Cabinet at the Secretary General of the Council of Europe in Strasbourg .

She held several positions at the Hamburg SPD and the Working Group of Social Democratic Women . So she was u. a. Chairwoman of the SPD Control Commission and Vice-President of the Socialist Women's International . She was also a member of the state executive committee of the European Union .

From 1986 to 1989 Randzio-Plath was a member of the Hamburg Parliament , in which she was chairwoman of the legal committee. From 1989 to 2004 she was a member of the European Parliament . There she was chairwoman of the subcommittee on currency from 1992 to 1999 and chairwoman of the committee on economics and currency from 1999 to 2004. From 2004 to 2010 she was an advisor to the European Commission .

Randzio-Plath is currently partner in the Hamburg law firm Mille, Sieberth & Randzio-Plath , as well as lecturing at the University of Hamburg and at the Europa-Kolleg Hamburg .

Other offices

From 2006 to 2013 she was the first chairwoman of the Hamburg Women's Council . She is the chairwoman of the Marie Schlei Association .

Memberships

Randzio-Plath is a member of the Kangaroo Group , a think tank and lobby organization based in Brussels.
