Gerhard von Minden (* in Lübeck ; † 1466 ibid) was mayor of the Hanseatic city of Lübeck.

Life

Gerhard von Minden was the son of the Lübeck merchant Tidemann von Minden and became councilor of the city of Lübeck in 1433. In 1443 he belonged to an embassy under the leadership of Mayor Johann Lüneburg to the Hanseatic Day in Lüneburg, at which it was decided not to give support to anyone attacking a Hanseatic city . In 1445 he acted as an arbitrator between Duke Bogislaw IX. from Pomerania and the city of Szczecin . In 1449 he was envoy to King Christian I of Denmark . In 1450 he negotiated together with councilor Bertold Witig with the council of the city of Lüneburg about the payment of pensions that Lüneburg creditors from Lübeck did not pay out. In 1451 he negotiated in Utrecht with England and over the Bruges stack . In 1454 he was appointed one of the mayors of the Lübeck council. In 1457 he directed the return of the German merchants from Utrecht to the Hansekontor in Bruges . In 1459 he represented the city in the peace negotiations between Denmark and Poland in Lübeck. In wills of Lübeck citizens he is very often listed as a documentary witness and guardian .

Gerhard von Minden married a daughter of the Lübeck councilor Ditmar von Thünen and had been a member of the circle society since 1447 .
