Litracon

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Litracon stands for Light Transmitting Concrete (translucent concrete ) and is a brand of translucent concrete . Its inventor and owner of several patent applications and patents is the Hungarian architect Áron Losonczi .

For production, fine-grain concrete and glass fiber mats are poured in layers into prefabricated molds. Since the proportion of glass fibers is low at 4% and these also have a small diameter (from 2 micrometers to 2 millimeters), the strength corresponds to that of ordinary concrete. The almost loss-free light transmission through the optical fibers makes it possible to see light, shadows or even colors even with walls up to twenty centimeters thick. With a glass fiber content of 4%, the light transmission of the material is 3% according to the manufacturer.

Litracon was awarded the ' red dot: best of the best ' prize for the highest design quality by the Design Center North Rhine-Westphalia on July 4, 2005 in Essen and was nominated for the 2006 Design Prize of the Federal Republic of Germany .

The product range of LiTraCon Bt., Founded by Áron Losonczi in 2004, has so far comprised building blocks, panels and a lamp ( LiTraCube ). The factory is located in Csongrád , 160 kilometers from the Hungarian capital Budapest .
