Emperor Qianshao of Han ( Chinese  漢 前 少帝 ), maiden name Liu Gong († June 15, 184 BC ) was the third emperor of the Han dynasty in China . Because he was only a puppet emperor , he is often omitted from lists of Han emperors . He was probably the eldest son of Emperor Hui and the adopted son of Empress Zhang Yan . The identity of his birth mother is controversial; she was killed at the instigation of Empress Mother Lü Zhi and Empress Zhang Yan.

Very little is known about Emperor Qianshao's life and personality. Almost no significant events have come down to us from his time, not even his date of birth. When his father, Emperor Hui, in 188 BC Liu Gong died as the newly crowned Crown Prince as his successor. The imperial grandmother Lü Zhi, however, had the say in all government affairs.

Before or in 184, Emperor Qianshao discovered that Zhang Yan was not his birth mother and that she had killed his mother and Liu Hong's. He was angry about this and recklessly dropped the remark that the Empress Mother should pay for it when he got older. When the emperor's grandmother Lü Zhi found out, she secretly locked the emperor in the palace and announced that he was seriously ill and could not see anyone. Some time later she informed the officials that the emperor was still ill and unable to take care of government affairs, especially since he had developed a nervous disease. She proposed to depose the emperor and put someone else in his place. The officials complied with the Emperor's grandmother's request, and after his removal, Emperor Qianshao was killed. His brother Liu Hong succeeded him to the throne as Emperor Houshao, but was also a puppet of the emperor's grandmother.
