Liu Xiang (Prince)

Liu Xiang ( Chinese  劉 襄 ), posthumous title Prince Ai of Qi ( 齊 哀王 ; † 179 BC ), was a prince of the Han dynasty in China . His parents were Liu Fei , the prince of Qi, and his wife Si. With that, Emperor Gaozu of Han was his grandfather.

During the coup against the Lü family, Liu Xiang led the army from Qi and soon took over the troops from the neighboring country of Langye. With this force he moved as far as the capital Chang'an and laid claim to the imperial throne, supported by his younger brothers Liu Xingju and Liu Zhang . However, the officials destroyed the Lü family, deposed Emperor Houshao and called the Prince of Dai Liu Heng to the capital. whom they soon proclaimed emperor. Liu Xiang submitted and returned with his troops to Qi, where he passed away the next year. After his death, the emperor shared qi and gave it to his younger brothers Liu Xingju and Liu Zhang.
