The Live Music Hall (also known colloquially as LMH or Live) is a disco and event location in Cologne-Ehrenfeld .

The hall has a beer garden and a snack bar. There are parties and concerts.

history

The Live Music Hall is located in a former industrial area in Cologne-Ehrenfeld, which is popularly known today as the light district . Before it was used as an event hall, the building belonged to the extinct machine factory Heinz Strunck + Co, most recently Robert Bosch GmbH, packaging machines division, which manufactured special machines for the chemical, cosmetics and food industries in the Lichtstrasse. After production was gradually moved abroad and to other German locations, the hall stood empty for a few years. In 1990 the building was saved from final ruin and converted into a multifunctional event hall. At this point in time, there was a lack of medium-sized venues in Cologne, so the hall could quickly establish itself. In its current state, the hall can hold around 1200 to 1800 people, depending on the event.

During the renovation, almost all of the remaining machines and cranes were first removed, the entire hall gutted and finally refurbished. Here, above all, toilet facilities and the catering facility were created. On closer inspection, however, crane systems can still be seen in the ceiling area, which for static reasons could not be removed.

In November 2012, the Live Music Hall remained after a ceiling collapsed during a concert of metalcore - band Callejon temporarily closed.

The building of the Live Music Hall is today, like many other factory halls in the Ehrenfeld light district, an industrial monument .

Parties

The range of parties in the Live Music Hall encompasses a wide range of music and therefore attracts a diverse audience. With “Let's Dance” there is a party at which the latest charts and party classics are played. At the “Pop-Live” parties, guests can hear everything from the 70s to the present day. Pop - Wave and New German Wave are available at the " 80s Party ", while the "Rockgarden" parties are more alternative and rockier. In addition to the “Metal Party” Rockgarden, the “Cowboys from Hell Night” was introduced on the last Saturday of the month. On this evening the focus is on the harder pace, that is Death & Thrash Metal, Grindcore etc. Although these directions are partly represented in the Rockgarden, only somewhat less well-known bands are played on the special night.

Concerts

Muskers from different genres performed in the Live Music Hall, for example German artists such as Bushido , H-Blockx , Jeanette Biedermann and Samy Deluxe . But international musicians like Crowded House , Manic Street Preachers , Prince , Staind and Texas also gave concerts. Concerts were also recorded for the TV program Rockpalast .
