Living Culture Foundation Namibia

The Living Culture Foundation Namibia (LCFN) is a German- Namibian non-profit cultural association based in Tangermünde and Windhoek . According to its own statements, it is one of the largest cultural associations in Namibia.

The LCFN has set itself the goal of setting up and supporting cultural projects for traditional ethnic groups. This involves the development of cultural networks, cultural platforms and the organization of cultural educational trips.

Living museums

The Living Museums ( English Living Museum ) represent the most important initiative of the LCFN. The museums are basically the preservation of traditional culture, promote intercultural dialogue and the "fight" of poverty through income from tourism . The underlying principles are self-development and personal responsibility, participation and authenticity.

There are currently five living museums , each with a Namibian ethnic group living according to traditional traditions.

In addition, two Living Museums of the Kavango and Khwe are under construction. The Nharo has been closed since the end of 2010.
