Living in America is a 1985 James Brown song written by Dan Hartman and Charlie Midnight. It is also included in the soundtrack to the movie Rocky IV - The Battle of the Century .
history
Living in America was published in December 1985. It became a number one hit in Belgium and Brown's first top ten hit in the UK . Brown won it at the 1987 Grammy Awards for Best Male Vocal Performance - R&B .
The hit is 4:45 minutes long and appeared on the album Gravity . On the B-side of the single is an instrumental version of the song.
In a scene from the Rocky IV film, James Brown sings the song in the boxing arena before the fight with Apollo Creed.
Music video
The plot of the music video consists of various scenes cut together. In one scene, James Brown gives a concert, in the other one sees recordings of the United States and along the way there are also some scenes from the Rocky IV film.
