Liz Carr

Liz Carr (born April 1972 in Wirral, Cheshire , England) is a British comedian and actress .

Liz Carr has suffered from the rare disease arthrogryposis multiplex congenita (AMC) since she was born and has been in a wheelchair since she was seven. She has been committed to the rights of the disabled since she was a student. She became known in Germany for her role as laboratory assistant Clarissa Mullery in the series Silent Witness .

life and career

When Liz Carr was seven, she was diagnosed with AMC. At the age of 11, she was told that she would have to use a wheelchair all her life.

She studied law at the University of Nottingham and during her studies she was in contact with groups working to improve the living conditions of the disabled. After graduating in 1993, she worked at the Nottingham Law Center.

In 2001 she took an acting course at the Unity Theater in Liverpool. There she met Anne Cunningham, with whom she founded a comedy group. The troupe has performed in a variety of comedy clubs and festivals, including the Fringe in Edinburgh. In 2003 she played Mother Courage in a production by the Graeae Theater Company in Bert Brecht 's play of the same name . Since 2012 she has played the laboratory assistant Clarissa Mullery in the British series Silent Witness . It is dubbed in the German version by Jo Kern .

Liz Carr has been married to the author Jo Church since 2010.
