Liz Diamond

Liz Diamond (born 1927 in New York City , † January 21, 2006 ibid) was an American jazz singer and guitarist.

biography

Liz Diamond was one of the best known local New York jazz singers and performed primarily in the two renowned jazz clubs Yaffa Cafe on St. Mark’s and The C Note in the East Village . She also worked with Art Blakey , Charles Mingus, and Paul Quinichette . Always white-haired, Diamond was a fixture at the jazz festivals in Tompkins Square Park and as a singer at St. Peter's Church on Lexington Avenue and St. Mark's Church-in-the-Bowery .

In 2000 she recorded the album Yesterdays .
