Lizard Island (from English lizard 'lizard, lizard' ) is a 3 km long and 0.8 km wide island off the Graham coast of Graham Land on the Antarctic Peninsula . It is located in the northern part of Bigo Bay .
Participants in the British Graham Land Expedition (1934–1937) led by the Australian polar explorer John Rymill discovered them. Rymill named them descriptively after their shape, which reminded him of a lizard .
