Llandrindod Wells ( Welsh Llandrindod ) is a health resort ( bath ) in the county of Powys in central Wales . The place has 5,024 inhabitants.
history
The original settlement of Castell Collen dates back to the time of the Roman occupation of the British Isles. The real growth of the city began in 1749 with the construction of the first hotel for visitors to the water springs.
With the connection to the railway network to England in 1865, the city began to develop economically.
Llandrindod Wells was originally the capital of the county of Radnorshire . Following the reorganization of the regional government in 1974, Llandrindod Wells became the administrative seat of the newly formed Powys County .
Sports
In 1933, 1937, 1938, 1949, 1950, 1954 and 1961, Llandrindod Wells was the venue for the International Six Days Ride , an off-road motorcycle competition that has existed since 1913 .
