Loch Fad is a Scottish freshwater lake . It is located on the island of Bute off the Scottish west coast in the Council Area Argyll and Bute along the Highland Boundary Fault .
Loch Fad has the typical elongated shape of a lake created by glaciers in the Ice Age . It is about 2.5 km long, but only about 300 m wide. The maximum depth is 12 m. Loch Fad is a great angling area for trout and pike in particular.
In August 2018, a replica of the Bluebird K7 was tested on Loch Fad . With the original of this jet-powered planing boat , Donald Campbell set several watercraft speed records between 1955 and 1967.
