The Lochalp is an alpine alp above Davos in the canton of Graubünden at around 2003  m at the height of the tree line . Spacious considering the Lochalp is below to the southeast exposed Strelakette that the Prättigau / Davos region from the Region Plessur separates.

Geographical description

The meadow area of ​​the Lochalp is only slightly inclined to the east and is bordered in the north and south by two arms of the Alberti stream. The northern arm of the Albert Ibaches springs on the Latschüelfurgga - saddle below the Chüpfenflue , the southern part arises from the Wannengrat , both amount to about 2400 meters. Below the Lochalp, the valley that is formed by the Albertibach and is called Albertitobel narrows.

The Lochalp is a stage point on the mountain hiking trails with white-red-white markings, all of which are part of the Davos Alpine Tour . On the same path, which is classified as a T2 path according to the SAC hiking scale of the Swiss Alpine Club , further east is the Podestenalp ( 1944  m ), further south the Grüeni Alp ( 1913  m ) below the Grüenihorn .

Located directly above the tree line, there are only a few standing trees or groups of trees around Lochalp, mostly Swiss stone pines and red pines .

economy

On the roadway, which ends below the Grüenlihorn at an altitude of almost 2200 meters, there is a solidly built house with stone foundations in the middle of the Lochalp, which is inhabited in summer and is used for the production of agricultural goods.
