from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Lochview Cottage is a building in the Scottish town of Port Charlotte on the Hebridean island of Islay . The building is on the west side of Main Street at the south end of town. On August 28, 1980, Lochview Cottage was included in the Scottish List of Monuments in Category C as an ensemble with the neighboring former police station . Lochview Cottage has now been converted into a holiday home.

description

The building complex consists of two largely symmetrical semi-detached houses. The exact time of construction is not recorded, so that only the middle of the 19th century can be given as the construction period. The complex consists of a main building running parallel to the street. This has two floors and ends with a gable roof . On both sides, short wings face the street, which correspond to the main building in terms of their design. This is followed by small, one-story side wings, which also end with gable roofs and again run parallel to the street. All roofs are covered with slate shingles and the facades are plastered using the traditional Harling technique. A low wall surrounds both buildings and also divides the lawn that extends up to the street.
