Locking Castle
Locking Castle was a castle on the Carberry Hill near the former RAF -Standortes Locking in the English County North Somerset . It is considered a Scheduled Monument .
The castle on Carberry Hill was a moth . Excavations in 1902 revealed the remains of a small stone room surrounded by a moat . Fragments of earthenware and the remains of a sword have also been found.
The origin of the castle is not clear. It could have been part of the Kewstoke or Hutton manor . The two manors were combined and awarded by King Henry I to Geoffrey de Dun . In 1214 Locking Castle was given to Woodspring Priory and lost its military importance.
