life and career

1990–98: The early years

Andrew and Brian Chaplin were born in New York on May 14, 1990. At the age of two, they moved back to Cape Town, South Africa, where they lived with their parents until their divorce in 1997. After living alternately with their mother and father, the twins moved with their mother to the USA in 2001, but moved back to South Africa in 2003 to live with their father. At the age of six, when Andrew and Brian got their first guitars, they discovered their interest in music. They released their first single, Amnesia, at the age of eight.

2006–2009: "III"

Andrew and Brian performed at a number of events in and around Cape Town at a young age, and it wasn't long before the two were discovered by a South African record producer, Gabi Le Roux. He introduced them to the musician Given Phike, who also lives in Cape Town. Shortly afterwards the trio "III" (Three) was formed. On August 27, 2007, III released an album on a South African mobile phone social network application called "Mxit". The album was sold over 500,000 times in South Africa and was awarded double platinum for downloads. The group split up and shortly thereafter Andrew and Brian Chaplin formed the band "Locnville".

Sun in My Pocket (2010)

After three months of production by Deon Phyfer, the debut album "Sun in My Pocket" was originally released in 2009 on a music download platform under the name "Retro Electro". The album was only released on CD in South Africa in February 2010 after it had been produced again in England by Wez Clarke (Ministry of Sound, Hed Kandi).

Locnville were found a "buzz act" at the Midem International Music Conference in Cannes in January 2010; this led to the interest of various international record companies. 2010 Locnville received a contract with Sony Music International.

In September 2010 the duo toured Europe. The single Sun in My Pocket is also included in FIFA 11 .

Running to Midnight (2011)

On July 1, 2011, Locnville's second studio album called "Running To Midnight" was released. The album was written and recorded within nine months, partly in Cape Town, partly in the US and also during the Sun In My Pocket tour in Europe. In an interview, one of the twins, Andrew, said that the new album is "far more appropriate to the situation we are in now". The other twin, Brian, added that the album was "not the previous album," so it brought a new sound.

Villey Clothing (2011)

In January 2011 Andrew and Brian designed some t-shirts, tops and caps for their fans.
