Lodovica degli Albertoni , also Luise Albertoni (* 1474 ; † 1533 ), was a Franciscan tertiary (see Third Order ) and mystic who is venerated as a blessed woman in her hometown of Rome after she was blessed by Pope Clement X on January 28, 1671 . had been beatified.

Life

Ludovica came from the Roman patrician family degli Albertoni . At the age of twenty she was married to Giacomo della Cetera. Since 1506 in widowhood, she joined the Tertiary of the Franciscan order and lived prayer and asceticism . Her mystical piety was reportedly bestowed with the graces of prophecy and miracles. Ludovica was also active in charity, spending her fortune caring for the needy, the sick and poor children, and particularly excelling in helping the victims of the Sacco di Roma in 1527.

On January 28, 1671, Pope Clement X approved her veneration as a blessed. Their festival is celebrated locally on January 31st.

On January 17, 1674 their were relics in the Roman church of San Francesco a Ripa transferred . The elderly Gianlorenzo Bernini created the sculpture “The ecstasy of the blessed Ludovica Albertoni” in 1674 for the altar there in the Anna Chapel .
