Logan Allen Pause (born August 22, 1981 in Hillsborough , North Carolina ) is an American football player . The midfielder has played for Chicago Fire in Major League Soccer since 2003 .

Youth and college

After attending Jordan High School in Durham, NC, he went to the University of North Carolina in 2000 . There he played for the college team North Carolina Tar Heels until 2002, where he was vice-captain of the team in his final season. During the semester break in 2002 he also played for the Raleigh CASL Elite in the USL Premier Development League .

After college, he signed a Generation Adidas deal with Major League Soccer.

Club career

In the 2003 MLS SuperDraft, he was drafted by Chicago Fire . In his first season he completed 21 games and won the MLS Supporters' Shield with the team . During the 2004 season it was used 19 times.

It was only when Chris Armas announced his retirement in 2007 that Logan was able to establish himself as a regular in defensive midfield.

National team

Pause played for various US youth national teams. He played most of the missions for the U-23 national team.

He was first named to the United States National Football Team squad in 2009. During the CONCACAF Gold Cup 2009 he played his first international match on July 4, 2009.
