Logical awards

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Logical markups in HTML determine the meaning of the text. You can enter a text section here e.g. B. Mark it as a quote , abbreviation or heading. Nothing is given about the appearance of the characters. One also speaks of " semantic labeling".

The appearance varies from user to user and can be set by everyone. In contrast to the physical awards , they are flexible and often vary.

Example: In Germany you can recognize quotations immediately if they are written in italics . Here you could mark the text in italics instead of a quote. In other countries, however, quotations are only understood to mean underlined text. In such cases, it is less the physical markings that are used than the logical ones. That would be in HTML <q>or <blockquote>for more extensive block quotations . If necessary, these automatically set the appropriate quotation marks .

In HTML5 , semantic markup was completely used. Elements that previously had a purely typographical effect are now also given a content interpretation, or they have been removed from the standard and are no longer to be used in reprogramming software.
