The Lohnerhütte is a refuge of the Swiss Alpine Club in the Bernese Alps ( Switzerland ).
Location and operation
The hut stands on the northern flank of the Grosslohner above Adelboden at an altitude of 2171 m above sea level. M. , is run by the Wildstrubel section of the Swiss Alpine Club and is looked after on summer weekends.
history
From the hut, built in 1972, you have a deep view of Adelboden and its five valleys Tschente, Stigelschwand, Gilbach, Boden and Bunderle. The approaches are for sure-footed and vertigo-free hut visitors. The ascent from the Bunderalp via the Chrachli and that via the ladder path are secured with chains. The hut is only open in summer, access is closed in winter.
The history of the hut goes back to the wood chopper and day laborer Peter Zürcher ("Lohner Zürcher"), who was born in 1858 and who built a simple mountain farmer's home for his family in this inaccessible area and kept sheep and goats.
